For the last week of Feb - First week of March here are some personal recommendations of theater plays to see.

Floy Quinto's The Collection
The Collection happens in a time where the obscenely rich out-do each other through auctions over heritage sites which has lost its significance to society leaving it at the disposal of the government. Until one peculiar image of the Virgin of Lost Souls, bound to its mystic origins dating from the Pre-Spanish occupation, sparks an interest among a preferred clientele base of the Maharlika Auction house: Tatiana, a jeweler; Alphonse, a fashion guru, Manolo, a business man, & Dr. Stephen Yan a Filipino-Chinese doctor along with them slips in an inquisitive college student named Gus whom Carlos, the auctioneer, found interesting enough to invite to the unveiling of the image. Find out who will get the mysterious image of the Virgin of Lost Souls to add to their collection.
What to bring: an open mind.

Rody Vera's D' Wonder Twins of Boac
Campanilla Films and BLV Films are the two biggest film producers of the era. They are in search for the next "big thing" to keep their industry from dying. Enter- D' Wonder Twins of Boac Bastian and Viola. They can sing, dance, and act. The promise of stardom made the the twins embark a ship going to the city. Tragedy strikes and the twins get separated in sea thinking the other dead.
In the city, Viola makes end meet for her by acting like vagrant until she decides to ventures into an audition by Campanilla films disguised as a man named Cesar to make up for what's missing (her brother Bastian, her inseparable partner) only to land a job as a Boy-Friday of the head honcho Doc Orsino.

Past shows
Just wanted to include in this post although I am sure you folks might be able to catch this again some time in the future.

Bernard, a young American architect-businessman and a swinging bachelor between three air hostesses from three different airlines. All goes smoothly with the three ladies not even having an idea of the other woman, until a storm comes in and all three ladies want to stay in for the duration of the storm.

Try imagining getting out of a situation like that. I was practically at the edge of my seat with all the tension between the characters.

Boeing Boeing, a Tony-award winning play, is produced by Repertory Philippines ended its run on Feb 17, 2013. Its also the most performed French play around the world according to Guinness Book of World records (that's why I know you'll be able to watch it soon)

A little trivia for you, they gave a 30% discount on tickets if you bring a boarding pass. Its a cute gimmick with a pretty discount.

Philippine Theater is flourishing on the first quarter of year with more than a handful of shows to choose from. What theater performance are you planning to see this year?
